Job summary

Syrah Resources Ltd in Vidalia, LA is seeking a Cell Testing Specialist to execute and support lithium-ion battery tests, coin cell fabrication, and data analysis. You will work hands-on to advance material development and qualification programs in a fast-paced laboratory.

Responsibilities include coin cell assembly in glovebox, electrochemical testing, data reporting, and contributing to process improvement, SOPs, and safety standards while maintaining high-quality records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of lithium-ion battery research, battery testing, or cell manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with coin cell assembly, electrochemical testing, and laboratory equipment, including gloveboxes, battery cyclers, rheometers, mixers, vacuum ovens, and coating equipment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data-analysis software, with experience analyzing electrochemical performance data and producing accurate, timely technical reports.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Conduct slurry mixing and electrode fabrication activities.
• Perform coin cell assembly activities in an argon-filled glovebox.
• Execute electrochemical testing programs, including formation, cycling, rate capability, and performance evaluation.
• Monitor testing activities and identify abnormalities or performance issues.
• Maintain cell assembly and testing records in accordance with laboratory procedures.
• Analyze electrochemical test data and prepare technical summaries and reports.
• Conduct root-cause investigations for cell failures and unexpected test results.
• Support process development and optimization activities related to electrode fabrication and cell assembly.
• Contribute to development of new testing methodologies and best practices.
• Support daily laboratory operations and testing schedules.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operating properly.
• Perform routine troubleshooting of battery cyclers, gloveboxes, coaters, rheometers, balances, and other laboratory equipment.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and monitor consumable usage.
• Assist with procurement planning and material forecasting.
• Support competency assessments and qualification activities.
• Provide technical guidance during laboratory experiments and testing activities.
• Assist in developing training materials and work instructions.
• Follow and support laboratory SOPs, work instructions, and quality requirements.
• Maintain accurate technical records, test reports, and laboratory documentation.
• Support DMS document control and continuous improvement activities.
• Demonstrate leadership in laboratory safety and housekeeping practices.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, risk assessments, and company policies.
• Participate in safety inspections, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
