Job summary

Valmont Industries in Valley, Nebraska is seeking a Looper Operator to keep a steady material flow to the tube mill. You will use a 30-ton crane and mic miller welder to join coil ends and feed material from the uncoiler to the mill.

The role requires accurate inventory tracking, basic math, and the ability to work with the mill, slitter, and quality inspectors to ensure on-time production and adherence to specifications. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in manufacturing or fabrication
• Basic welding knowledge and ability to operate mic miller 252 manual welder
• Read/write legibly for accurate records
• Proficiency with decimals and fractions, convert as needed
• Able to obtain forklift and overhead crane certifications
• Strong spatial awareness for heavy equipment
• Basic math to track material usage and inventory
• Organized and capable of independent work with team communication
• Passion for quality and integrity

Responsibilities

• Weld coils to ensure continuous material flow from uncoiler to tube mill
• Operate 30-ton crane to lift and position heavy coils
• Connect coils by welding ends for seamless mill feeding
• Adjust mill setup for differing coil sizes; coordinate with material handler
• Monitor inventory and keep daily records of materials used
• Assist mill and cutoff operators as needed for efficient production
• Communicate with operators and inspectors to resolve issues
• Maintain forming mill sections and address mechanical issues
• Exercise crane safety and maintain organized work area
• Ensure weld quality meets customer specs through inspections
