JOB SUMMARY
CoolSys Energy Solutions (CES) is currently seeking a CoGen Service Technician to inspect and diagnose on-site Power Generation and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of our product offerings, including CHP and Balance of Plant (not limited to HRSG, radiators, steam/hydronic boilers, absorption chillers, chillers, standby generators, automatic transfer switches, switchgear), island and parallel operation, control systems, Building Management Systems, including assembly, repair, wiring, re-building, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Travel regularly to job sites to perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, unscheduled service, and troubleshooting, mechanical & electrical repairs on natural gas and biogas engines, generator sets, CHP power generation equipment, and related equipment.
- Monitor system performance remotely, diagnose malfunctions/operator errors, and provide solutions.
- Interface with system operators/field technicians and provide technical guidance.
- Perform engine overhauls, electrical & mechanical testing, calibration, and commissioning.
- Provide clear and concise reports of all work performed daily, observe and report conditions that could lead to unscheduled or corrective maintenance, and communicate promptly.
- Maintain designated project & service records, practicing consistent record keeping.
- Contribute to a positive work environment where all team members feel valued and responsible.
- Adapt to the diverse needs of a small team with flexibility and creativity.
- Continuously improve and update product knowledge through educational and training opportunities.

Qualifications
- Strong reciprocating engine and electrical background, with high-level skills and understanding of internal combustion engines, generator sets, preferably natural gas engines, but diesel standby or other engine technologies are also considered.
- Experience and proven track record with complex technologies such as aircraft engines and turbines are valued.
- Ability to perform technical start-ups of gas engines and CHP power systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair power systems independently.
- Basic knowledge of advanced controls, safety shutdowns, circuit breakers, and control panel wiring.
- Availability for overtime and occasional weekend travel.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in technical writing.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with telephone and computer skills.
- High energy, capable of managing multiple projects efficiently.
- Resourceful, well-organized, dependable, detail-oriented.
- Professional, positive attitude, team player.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Experience with IP Networking and troubleshooting.
