Qualifications

Position SummaryThe purpose of the Coding Educator is to manage coding and chart documentation-training programs in order to ensure consistent and accurate ICD-10 coding by Health Information Management Coders. The Coding Trainer/Educator will work with the medical staff, coders and other Valley Medical Group staff on best practices for documentation in the medical record.Education* Associates Degree in a health or business related field is strongly recommended.* Bachelor,s degree is a preferred.* Successful completion of a post-secondary billing or coding program or coursework, or the equivalent combination of experience, education* CPC (Certified Professional Coder) and CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor) preferred.ExperienceFive (5) years of progressive coding experience in a medical group practice setting, with coding/billing experience in multiple medical specialties. Surgical and outpatient procedural coding is required.Skills* Experience in using medical billing software and electronic medical records is required.
