Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Coding Specialist II for a remote, full-time role. The position emphasizes training, mentoring, and leadership of Coding Specialist I, with responsibility for accurate CPT/HCPCS/ICD coding prior to charge entry.

You will review EPIC queues, perform prospective code reviews for surgical and physician visits, and handle charge entry across EPIC and AS400 systems in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in CPT and ICD coding preferred.
• Experience working with all levels within an organization.
• Healthcare coding experience preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.

Responsabilités

• Provide training, mentoring, and leadership to Coding Specialist I.
• Reconciling daily clinical services and assigning CPT/HCPCS/ICD codes before charge entry.
• Review EPIC queues for coding/billing errors and adjust codes as needed.
• Conduct prospective reviews of surgical/procedural visits for proper coding.
• Review 5%-10% physician office visits for correct coding prior to entry.
• Perform charge entry into EPIC or AS400 and other hospital billing systems.
• Other duties as required.

Summary: Prefer coding experience in OB/GYN or fetal maternal medicine. The Coding Specialist II provides training, mentoring, and leadership to Coding Specialist I employees.

Responsibilities:

• 1.tProvides training, mentoring, and leadership to Coding Specialist I employees.
• 2.tProvides daily reconciliation of all clinical services provided. Performs coding function through review and analysis of electronic, paper, or hybrid patient medical records and assigns CPT, HCPCS and ICD codes accordingly, prior to charge entry.
• 3.tReviews EPIC charge review work queues daily for coding/billing errors and makes necessary and appropriate coding changes based on medical documentation for both professional and technical charge revenue, prior to charge entry.
• 4.tConducts prospective reviews of all surgical or procedural visits reviewing documentation for appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD code assignment, prior to charge entry.
• 5.tConducts periodic prospective reviews of 5%-10% physician office visits by reviewing medical records for proper CPT, HCPCS, and ICD code assignment, prior to charge entry.
• 6.tPerforms charge entry function as needed into EPIC or AS400 or any other hospital billing system for all clinical, coded and billable services.
• 7.tOther duties as required.
