Job summary

Mission Healthcare, a leading western US home health and hospice provider, seeks an experienced Medical Coder to review diagnoses, procedures and services for ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS accuracy. You will serve as a coding expert for clinicians and other departments, supporting compliance and quality.

• 3–5 years of progressive medical coding experience, preferably in home health or hospice.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's in a healthcare-related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate medical codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services to ensure ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS accuracy.
• Provide coding guidance and support to clinicians and other departments.
• Conduct coding audits and quality reviews to identify discrepancies and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Generate and analyze coding productivity reports.
• Collaborate with IT and billing to resolve system issues affecting coding workflows.
• Participate in organizational initiatives and continuous improvement of coding processes.

Pay range (depending on experience): $28/hour, open to discussion!

Responsibilities

• Review and validate medical codes assigned to diagnoses, procedures, and services to ensure accuracy and compliance with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification required.
• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive medical coding experience, preferably in home health, hospice, or related healthcare settings.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding guidelines, and regulatory compliance standards.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software systems.
