Base pay range

$75,000.00/yr - $100,000.00/yr

What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)

  • Collaborate with clinical documentation improvement (CDI), coding teams, and clinical staff on audit findings and documentation improvements
  • Conduct mortality and Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) reviews focusing on quality outcomes
  • Educate clinicians and coders on best practices for documentation and compliance
  • Analyze coding and quality data; develop strategic action plans and educational materials
  • Prepare and deliver staff training and presentations on coding topics

What Is Required (Qualifications)

  • Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience at an academic medical center or Level I Trauma hospital
  • Previous educator/auditor experience in a large hospital or health system
  • Deep understanding of complex clinical cases, including trauma, spinal fusion, and sepsis
  • Active AHIMA credential (RHIA, RHIT, or CCS)
  • CDIP or CCDS certification required

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree (in progress considered); Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in project management and quality analysis
  • Familiarity with CMS star ratings, Leapfrog, and USNWR quality metrics
