Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
• 5–8 years related work experience.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

Responsibilities

• Oversees the scope, direction, and effectiveness of the coding team in supporting and maintaining the department billing protocols, standards, compliant coding and needs.
• Develops and implements coverage models including cross-training staff to multiple specialties; ensures defined expectations and coding consistency.
• Samples medical documentation to ensure coding and billing compliance and identify trends/training needs.
• Monitors and analyzes audit trends; develops corrective action plans for performance targets.
• Presents audit results and conducts training sessions on documentation guidelines and coding principles.
• Plans and oversees daily coding team activities; assists in hiring decisions and performance reviews.
• Serves as HMFP audits point person to ensure compliant billing and documentation.
• Provides coding services to division(s) and works with billing to resolve denials.
• Develops and presents performance metric reports and participates in committees.
