Responsibilities

• Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of coding guidelines and principles; performs coding audits for optimization.
• Provides ad-hoc education to coding staff and validates coding changes.
• Communicates effectively with coders and CDI staff.
• Maintains knowledge of current Federal and State coding guidelines and system literature.
• Monitors and evaluates case mix index and related metrics.
• Implements coding changes and explains rationale to staff.
• Operates with general guidance; exercises independent judgment on actions.
