Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Coder WFH to review and code designated notes for one or more practices. The role involves providing feedback on documentation, coding guidance to physicians and non-physician practitioners, and collaborating with the AR team to resolve coding denials.

Candidates must be in Kansas or Missouri and able to round with practices as needed. The position requires at least one year of coding/billing experience and certification among COC, CCS, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT.

Qualifications

  • One year of coding and/or billing experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Must have 1 of the following certifications: COC, CCS, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and code designated office/hospital notes for one or multiple practices.
  • Abstract CPT-4, HCPCS II and ICD-9-CM from medical records.
  • Enter charge data into the billing system in a timely manner.
  • Work with AR to resolve coding-related denials and rejections.
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant regulations.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Coder WFH with Physician Services reviews and codes designated office/hospital notes for one or multiple practices and resolves complex coding scenarios. The Coder WFH provides feedback and documentation advice to the physician non physician practitioner, and practice management and works with AR to resolve coding related denials.

  • While this role is Work from Home, candidates must be in the Kansans or Missouri area to round with the practices and meet as needed.
Duties Include but Not Limited to:
  • Receives and reviews charge documents from the clinic and/or hospital.
  • Ensures charge information provided is correct and accurate.
  • Abstracts CPT-4, HCPCS II and ICD-9-CM from medical records
  • Keeps supervisor apprised of matters regarding charge entry.
  • Charge entry into billing system in a timely manner.
  • Works in conjunction with A/R team on follow up and resolution of coding related denials and rejections
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations through the use of current CPT-4, HCPCS II, and ICD-9/ICDD-10 materials, the Federal Register, and other pertinent materials.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs, conferences, etc.
  • Tracks denial patterns to address systemic issues
  • Available to assist and direct the practice or other appropriate staff regarding documentation, billing, coding, and reimbursement issues.
  • Performs related work and projects as required.
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Meets designated productivity and accuracy rate of 95%.
Education
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology is preferred.
Experience
  • One year of coding and/or billing experience in a healthcare environment
Certification
  • Must have 1 of the following: (COC) Certified Outpatient Coder, or (CCS) Certified Coding Specialist, or (CPC) Certified Professional Coder, or (RHIA) Registered Health Information Administrator, or (RHIT) Registered Health Information Technician
