Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Coder II – Ambulatory Surgery to accurately code ICD and CPT for outpatient records in a Level 1 Trauma Facility and Teaching Hospital. This role handles complex surgical coding across multi‑specialty practices and OPPS/CAH hospitals.

Requirements include an associate degree in a science field and AHIMA/AAPC credentials, with two years of surgical coding in an acute care setting. Remote options and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Two years of multi‑specialty surgical coding experience.
  • CPT/ICD‑CM/HCPCS/modifier coding for physician professional charges.
  • Experience in an acute care facility as a Clinical Coder II or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Summary

The Coder II – Ambulatory Surgery role is responsible for the accurate assignment of ICD and CPT coding of diagnoses and procedures for outpatient medical records in the Ambulatory Surgery setting of a Level 1 Trauma Facility and Teaching Hospital. This position performs complex surgical coding in support of specialty or multi‑specialty physician practices and OPPS and CAH hospitals.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: Associate’s Degree in a science field preferred with completion of an accredited program through AHIMA or AAPC.
  • License/Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCA, CPC, CPC-H, CASCC or CIRCC credential required.
  • Experience: Two years of multi‑specialty, preferably surgical coding experience, with CPT/ICD‑CM/HCPCS/modifier coding for physician professional charges and a minimum of two years of experience in an acute care facility as a Clinical Coder II or equivalent required. Required experience coding Surgical Observations, ASU, Professional Surgical CPT's or any combination of these areas. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Coder I – Ambulatory Surgery role.

  • Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Level 1 Trauma Facility coding experience. This position performs complex surgical coding in support of specialty or multi‑specialty physician practices and OPPS and CAH hospitals. Single Path Coding experience preferred.

The pay range for this position is $29.45to $39.84 per hour.

Compensation for part‑time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full‑time equivalent (FTE).
