OrthoVirginia is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to ensure accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding for outpatient and surgical cases across Virginia. You will analyze records, resolve pre-bill errors, and support clinic staff with coding questions in a fast-paced environment.

Strong knowledge of medical terminology, billing processes, and MS Office is required. This role offers diverse locations and both full-time and part-time opportunities in a leading orthopedic network.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret patient medical records, visit encounters, and reports to assign and sequence appropriate codes upon reviewing billed information.
  • Ensure ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes correctly reflect the documented records.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve routine pre-bill errors and edits for provider-based outpatient and surgical billing.
  • Determine appropriate course of action while organizing and prioritizing tasks.
  • Report coding and documentation trends to leadership regarding compliance concerns.
  • Work independently, efficiently prioritizing workflow while maintaining accuracy.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with clear verbal and written communication.
  • Assist clinic and billing staff with coding-related questions.
  • Provide support in interpreting denials, conducting reviews, and determining appropriate next steps for coding categories such as medical necessity, inclusivity, bundling, non-covered services, and cases where documentation does not support the claim.
  • Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and Insurance regulations concerning coding for consultations, diagnoses, and surgical procedures.
  • Seek guidance from managers, physicians, or content experts when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation Range for this position:

$20.96 - $31.44

Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
