Infirmary Health in Mobile, AL is seeking an experienced medical coder to assign and sequence codes for complex outpatient accounts in accordance with regulatory guidelines and internal IH policies. The role may include assigning ED charges when required.
Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of acute care coding experience, knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and CMS requirements, and strong research skills. A relevant certification such as RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCA or CPC/CPC-A is preferred.
Assigns and sequences code for complex outpatient accounts according to established regulatory guidelines, industry best practices, and Infirmary Health (IH) policies and procedures. May also be required to assign emergency department charges, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
1 year coding experience in an acute care facility
Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology
Knowledge of coding conventions: ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS
Knowledge of CMS coding requirements
Proficient computer skills; ability to research coding questions and utilize educational resources required
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
One of the following:
Credentialed through American Health Information Management Association in one of the following:
OR
Credentialed through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) in one of the following:
