Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Coder Auditor Supervisor to coordinate Coding Services and mentor coders in a day shift.

You will review medical records, ensure accurate coding for inpatient and outpatient visits, and support DRG optimization while collaborating with Health Information leadership to improve documentation quality.

Qualifications

• CCS credential required with thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, DRG’s, APC’s, and severity adjusted DRGs.
• Preferred RHIT or RHIA certification; acute care experience is valued.
• Encoder software proficiency required for code assignment in acute care.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to determine diagnoses and procedures as described by physicians.
• Mentor Coders and support DRG optimization and quality of documentation.

Responsibilities

Coder Auditor Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Coding Services at facility, supervises Coder Auditor Trainees and Coder Auditors. The Coder Auditor Supervisor works closely with Managers and Supervisors/ of Data Quality, Health Information Department and Director/Supervisor of Case Management to be instrumental in supplementing assistance to these departmental functions pertaining to Coding. Coder Auditor Supervisor will review and analyze documentation present in the medical record for both inpatient and Inpatient visits to determine diagnoses and procedures as described by the physicians of record. The Coder Auditor Supervisor reviews entered coded data and other abstracted data from the medical record into PHMI's electronic information system, facilitating Health Information Services department's indexing responsibility for internal use (such as to support medical care evaluation studies), and mandated reporting requirements. Holding a senior coding position, assumes primary responsibility for DRG optimization, primary role in assisting medical staff members with improving quality of documentation, and serves as a mentor to the Coders. Coder Auditor Supervisor participates in chart review projects as assigned and adheres to the Prime Coding Policies.

Education and Work Experience

Required qualifications:

CCS is required.Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, DRG's, APC's, Severity Adjusted DRG's

Preferred qualifications:

Registered Health Information Technician (R.H.I.T.), or Registered Health Information Administrator (R.H.I.A.).One year of clinical experience in acute care setting preferred.Basic computer experience required.Use of an encoder software product for code assignment in an acute care setting required.Computer data entry with 10-key preferred, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent critical thinking skills.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $32.00 to $47.04. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
