Job summary

Dayton Children's is seeking an Inpatient Coder to support accurate and timely coding of inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery records. You will examine electronic medical documentation to assign the correct diagnostic and procedural codes for clean claim submission.

Under general supervision, you will work with EPIC, 3M Encoder, and pediatric-specific coding practices to ensure reimbursement goals are met. A CCS or credential within 6 months is required, with RHIT/RHIA preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years coding experience preferred.
• Pediatric experience helpful.
• CCS required or must obtain within 6 months of employment.
• RHIT/RHIA or eligible preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery records accurately.
• Interpret electronic medical records to assign diagnostic and procedural codes.
• Ensure timely and accurate coding for clean claim submission.

Job Details:

This includes the examination and interpretation of the electronic medical documentation to assign and report the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes for the services provided for clean claim submission.
