Job summary

Dayton Children's is seeking an Inpatient Coder to support accurate and timely coding for inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery records. You will review electronic medical documentation to assign diagnostic and procedural codes for clean claim submission, under general supervision.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years coding experience preferred, pediatric coding helpful, and CCS certification either already held or obtainable within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• CCS certification required or must obtain within 6 months of employment.
• RHIT/RHIA or eligible preferred.
• 2+ years coding experience preferred.
• Pediatric coding experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery records accurately and timely.
• Analyze electronic medical documentation to assign diagnostic and procedural codes for clean claim submission.
• Support reimbursement goals through precise coding under supervision of Coding Supervisor.
