About the Team Our Business Office Team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely coding and billing-supporting both our patients and the financial integrity of Lakewood Health System. This team works closely with departments across the organization to ensure smooth workflows, accurate information, and efficient processes that support overall patient care and system operations. Mission for Position To ensure the accurate and compliant coding of outpatient encounters-maximizing reimbursement and supporting the operational and financial excellence of Lakewood Health System. Duties & Responsibilities Code ambulatory and outpatient encounters to the highest level of specificity using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS for both professional and facility charges. Ensure all coding is accurate and compliant with current payer requirements, including CMS regulations. Review patient documentation and encounters to determine appropriate codes and billing details. Address coding-related issues including denials, claims edits, and clearinghouse rejections. Maintain current and organized coding work queues, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks. Communicate and collaborate with billing, revenue integrity, patient financial services (PFS), PET, providers, nursing, registration, laboratory, radiology, and ancillary departments to support accurate and efficient coding processes. Research payer guidelines and insurance requirements as they apply to assigned duties. Use systems such as Epic and Encoder effectively to complete coding tasks. Remain current on coding guidelines, updates, and system changes as they relate to daily work. Position Type Full-time, 80 hours per pay period Remote (Must reside in Minnesota) Qualifications Qualifications Required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P, CPC, or CCA credential Preferred: Medical Secretary degree or equivalent training Ideal Candidate Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially via email and phone Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work with strong attention to detail Proficient in problem-solving and navigating coding challenges independently Experience with Epic and Encoder software would be preferred Benefits Lakewood Health System is growing and looking for great people to join our mission of providing personalized, quality healthcare for a lifetime.
