Job summary

Providence is seeking a Coding Specialist to educate and supportProviders and clinical staff with ongoing coding training, ensuring adherence to agency regulations. The role includes conducting random chart audits, reviewing data, and addressing coding questions while staying up-to-date with CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS updates.

The position involves regular visits to PMG clinics and active participation in clinical meetings, reflecting Providence's focus on patient-centered care and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Certification from AAPC or equivalent required at hire.
  • Certification from AHIMA required at hire.
  • Minimum 2 years of medical insurance reimbursement, billing and coding experience.
  • Experience reviewing patient accounts, EOBs and financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and support Providers, Division Directors/Managers, and clinical staff with ongoing coding training.
  • Conduct random chart audits and provide direct feedback to providers.
  • Investigate and answer provider coding questions.
  • Review data and reports to provide actionable feedback.
  • Regularly visit PMG clinics and participate in clinical meetings.
  • Stay current with annual CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS updates.

Job description

Coding Specialist

Coding Specialist is a nationally certified professional coder who educates and supports Providers, Division Directors/Managers and clinical staff by providing ongoing coding training to ensure adherence to agency regulations. Coders will conduct random chart audits and provide direct feedback to providers. Coders will be responsible for investigating and answering provider coding questions. Coders will review various data/reports and provide additional feedback. Coders will routinely visit Providence Medical Groups (PMG) clinics and attend clinical meetings. Coders will stay current with annual updates to CPT and ICD-10 and HCPCS codes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders
  • Upon hire: Certification from American Health Information Management Association
  • 2 years Experience in medical insurance reimbursement, medical billing and coding related to charge review and work RVU's.
  • Experienced in reviewing patient account information, insurance explanation of benefits, computer screens, and financial records.
