Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Code Welder to join our manufacturing team. The Code Welder is responsible for performing welding operations according to established code and safety standards, ensuring that all welded structures meet specified design requirements, quality control guidelines, and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of welding codes, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to operate welding equipment in a fast-paced, high-precision environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform welding tasks on various metal components according to welding codes and blueprints (e.g., AWS, ASME, or other industry-specific standards).
  2. Ensure that all equipment is maintained and in good working order.
  3. Efficiently and accurately operate welding equipment and related tools necessary for manufacturing and production.
  4. Read prints and drawings accurately and follow all work instructions.
  5. Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedge or template to ensure conformance with specifications.
  6. Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal, using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torch or plasma-arc equipment.
  7. Connect hoses from torch to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas and turn valves to release mixture.
  8. Climb ladders or work on scaffolds.
  9. Report any discrepancies and safety-related issues to the shop foreman.
  10. Perform any task, assignment, or project assigned by the shop foreman with expeditiousness and accuracy to accommodate production flow.
  11. Inspect and repair all defects and discontinuities before the Quality Control Inspector is called.
  12. Make repairs on vessels or tanks that have not passed inspection or need repair.
  13. Operate forklift, man lift, and scissor lift.
  14. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), welding helmets, gloves, and safety gear.
  15. Assist in training new welders and provide guidance on welding procedures and techniques as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
  1. Must be able to pass a 6G welding test.
  2. Able to read print layout and build vessel.
  3. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  4. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and non-compliance issues.
  5. Experience as a pipe welder preferred.
  6. Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards needed.
