Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Code Welder to join our manufacturing team. The Code Welder is responsible for performing welding operations according to established code and safety standards, ensuring that all welded structures meet specified design requirements, quality control guidelines, and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform welding tasks on various metal components according to welding codes and blueprints (e.g., AWS, ASME, or other industry-specific standards).
  2. Ensure that all equipment is maintained and in good working order.
  3. Operate welding equipment and related tools efficiently and accurately for manufacturing and production.
  4. Read prints and drawings accurately and follow all work instructions.
  5. Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedge or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  6. Dismantle metal assemblies or cut scrap metal using thermal-cutting equipment such as flame-cutting torches or plasma-arc equipment.
  7. Connect hoses from torches to tanks of oxygen and fuel gas, and operate valves to release the mixture.
  8. Climb ladders or work on scaffolds as required.
  9. Report discrepancies and safety issues to the shop foreman.
  10. Perform tasks, assignments, or projects assigned by the shop foreman with efficiency and accuracy to support production flow.
  11. Inspect and repair defects and discontinuities before calling in Quality Control.
  12. Make repairs on vessels or tanks that have not passed inspection or need repair.
  13. Operate forklifts, man lifts, and scissor lifts.
  14. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including proper use of PPE, welding helmets, gloves, and safety gear.
  15. Assist in training new welders and provide guidance on welding procedures and techniques.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Must pass a 6G welding test.
  • Able to read print layouts and build vessels.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and non-compliance issues.
  • Experience as a pipe welder is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards.
