Position SummaryResponsible performs welding procedures to meet ASME Sec VIII quality standards under minimal supervision. These standards include but are not limited to X-ray and U.T. non-destructive examinations. Must be familiar with GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes. This position will build ASME pressure vessels as required by supplied drawings and calculations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Proficient in assigned code welding techniquesRead and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings, including weld requirement symbolismKnowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materialsWorking knowledge of fixtures and weld set-up parameters (amps, volts, etc.)Conventional and precision measuring instrumentsProcess inspection, certification, and documentationWelding equipment maintenanceFinish grinding applications using manual and power toolsSafety and housekeeping knowledge, promoting a philosophy of zero accidentsSupport Manufacturing Engineering on improvement projectsAdhere to company policies, procedures, and rulesMaintain a positive, team-oriented attitudeFlexibility to work hours necessary to meet plant requirementPerform other duties as assigned by the area supervisorMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)High school diploma, or equivalentSuccessful completion of an internal welding testPrevious code welding experienceCode welding certificationPosition Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Three years minimum of prior code welding experiencePhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
