Job summary

City of Rockport is seeking a Code Enforcement Supervisor to lead daily operations, respond to complaints, and ensure compliance with city codes. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the Development Services Department and offers opportunities to mentor staff and influence community standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of relevant code enforcement experience or equivalent apprenticeship/internship.
• Valid Texas driver’s license for assigned duties.
• Current State of Texas certification as a Registered Code Enforcement Officer.
• Code Enforcement Officer II certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to citizen complaints regarding city code violations.
• Conduct routine patrols, inspections, and follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with city codes and ordinances.
• Investigate potential violations, research cases, and determine appropriate enforcement actions.
• Prepare violation notices, investigation reports, stop-work orders, and other enforcement documentation.
• Prepare cases for court proceedings and testify at appeals hearings when necessary.
• Assist in reviewing, updating, and implementing city codes and ordinances.
• Prepare monthly and annual reports tracking Code Enforcement activities and productivity.
• Coordinate onboarding and training for new Code Enforcement employees.
• Provide leadership and supervision to Code Enforcement personnel and perform supervisory duties in the absence of the Director of Development Services.
