Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in code enforcement or similar public contact work.
• Twelfth-grade education or higher.
• College coursework in urban planning, architecture, building inspection, criminal justice, public administration or related field desirable.
• PC832 certificate within 12 months; California driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect businesses, housing, vacant lots, and rental units for compliance with codes and regulations.
• Prepare notices of violations, citations, and related correspondence; may testify at hearings or court.
• Coordinate with City departments and respond to public inquiries; maintain inspection records.
• Prepare reports, chronologies, and training materials; assist in training less experienced staff.
