Job summary

City of Davenport is seeking a code enforcement professional to inspect and enforce parking, environmental, and zoning regulations, including special events and nuisance response. The role involves issuing citations, reporting, and managing parking-pay stations.

A valid driver’s license and NACA ACO I certification within six months are required, with some evenings and weekend shifts expected. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and is based in Davenport, IA, with residency

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two years’ experience in progressively responsible customer service or enforcement work.
• Must obtain a National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA) ACO I certification within six (6) months of appointment and maintain throughout duration of employment.
• Must possess and maintain throughout duration of employment a valid driver's license.
• Be available to work a varied work schedule including some evenings and weekends.
• Must pass a physical and background check as prescribed by the City of Davenport.
• Must reside in Iowa or Illinois within two (2) years of hire and maintain residency throughout the duration of employment.
• Employee is strongly encouraged to receive pre-exposure rabies vaccinations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and enforce parking, environmental codes (debris), and temporary signs.
• Issue citations on misdemeanors and code infractions listed above.
• Prepare reports and correspondence for review and approval by supervisor.
• Responsible for City's parking garage pay stations, including verifying operability and cash collection.
• Responsible for Temporary No Parking for special events.
• Handle after-hours nuisance calls pertaining to debris and residential parking monitoring.
• Enforce and ensure compliance with local animal control ordinances.
