Mecklenburg County’s LUESA division seeks a Manager to supervise the Code Enforcement function, oversee complex investigations, and guide environmental and infrastructure projects per codes and regulations. Qualifications

• Minimum of six years of code related experience and/or seven years in the design or construction industry including one year of supervisory experience or completion of an approved supervisory training program
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering.
• Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes
• Licenses and Certifications: MVR check, valid NC/SC Driver's License, County Driving Privileges, Level III NC Qualifications Board cert within one year, legal aspects of building code enforcement NC

Responsibilities

• Manage staff by prioritizing and assigning work, performance evaluations, training, policy adherence, safe environment, disciplinary recommendations
• Solve complex code interpretation issues
• Review and recommend on state statutes and code changes
• Establish policies and procedures
• Liaise with technical teams and public
• Oversee specialized programs and ordinances in code enforcement
• Coordinate with peers to ensure department consistency
• Manage HR requirements for staff
