Job summary

The City of Decatur seeks a Code Enforcement Inspector to enforce city codes on weeds, junk, litter, and building-code compliance. You will respond to citizen complaints, conduct field inspections, prepare sworn reports, issue warnings and citations, and collect photographic evidence.

This role requires preparing affidavits, testifying in court when required, and interacting with the public, property owners, law enforcement, and city staff to resolve violations and ensure safe, compliant

Qualifications

• Knowledge of code enforcement principles and practices.
• Proven ability to understand and apply city codes and ordinances.
• Experience with preparing written reports and affidavits.

Responsibilities

• Respond to citizen complaints concerning ordinance violations.
• Conduct field inspections and prepare inspection reports; issue warnings and citations.
