Job summary

New Castle County seeks an Assistant County Attorney to join its legal team, primarily supporting the Code Enforcement division and providing in-house counsel on HR, employee benefits and contracts. The role requires strong research, writing, and litigation skills and a commitment to excellent public service.

The successful candidate will advise departments, draft legal documents, and participate in investigations and training while representing the County in appropriate matters.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited law school and admission to the Delaware Bar or permission to practice under Delaware Supreme Court Rule 55.

Responsibilities

• Provides legal advice and representation to organizational clients (departments, boards, commissions, officials and employees).
• Represents New Castle County on assigned matters and conducts research and drafts legal documents.
• Conducts litigation and provides legal counsel to departments as required.
• Promotes high-quality public service and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers.
