Job summary

Town of Jonesborough is seeking a part-time Code Enforcement Officer to enforce town ordinances and state law, coordinate the enforcement process, and ensure community safety. The position works with the Building Inspector, Police Department, and Town leadership.

The role requires initiating investigations, processing complaints, issuing notices and citations, and maintaining case records. Strong communication and public relations skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Tennessee Driver's License.
• Preference given to individuals with code enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and perform field investigations for non-compliance with Town ordinances and state law.
• Respond to, research, and investigate code-related complaints.
• Provide customer service verbally and in writing to violators; explain actions required to comply with ordinances and provide remedial action alternatives.
• Prepare and issue notices of violations and citations.
• Document, record and maintain case files and activities.
• Case preparation and issue of notice of hearing for violations to be heard by the Municipal Court Judge, including gathering evidence and testimony.
• Attend hearings related to code enforcement, present testimony and evidence pertaining to violations.
• Deal effectively, courteously, and productively with angry and upset customers.
