Job summary

City of Dallas seeks a Neighborhood Code Representative to work with Code Compliance, educating residents and coordinating outreach to ensure service projects are completed efficiently and on time.

The NCR will connect with council district staff, external city departments, community groups, volunteers, and stakeholders to communicate, educate, and network resources for compliant neighborhoods and proactive enforcement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of experience in code enforcement or related areas.
• License as a Code Enforcement Officer or Code Enforcement Officer in Training (TDLR) and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, administers, and monitors education and outreach programs; collaborates with agencies, neighborhood groups, volunteers, courts, and city departments.
• Develops and implements plans to provide code-related programs; prepares public information materials and interprets state law, city ordinances, and policies.
• Investigates complex service complaints; evaluates evidence, communicates with involved parties, and drafts warnings, citations, or actions as needed.
• Maintains contact and coordinates services with other city departments, private and nonprofit organizations, volunteers, and community groups.
• Manages special projects or complex code issues; participates in neighborhood and crime watch associations and meetings.
• Coordinates city regulatory programs to ensure public safety and compliance; participates in events and projects.
• Interprets laws and city policies and provides recommendations to departments for improvement.
• Attends neighborhood and town hall meetings; documents concerns and serves as a knowledge base for violations and enforcement.
• Performs other work as needed or assigned.
