City of Battle Creek seeks an intermediate code enforcement professional to perform housing and property maintenance inspections, enforcing building codes, and maintaining inspection records.
Under the supervision of the Code Compliance Manager, you will investigate code violations, issue notices, interact with the public, and prepare reports while working in a sedentary indoor environment.
Performs intermediate technical work conducting various housing and property maintenance code inspections and investigations, enforcing building and housing codes and ordinances, preparing and maintaining inspection files and records; and related work as apparent or assigned. Work performed under the moderate supervision of the Code Compliance Manager.
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in communications, law enforcement, business administration, or related field.
This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires sitting, bending, reaching, hand dexterity (grasping, holding, keyboarding, repetitive movements), reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, color, depth, field of vision), hearing, using the telephone, contact with government officials and the general public, working overtime, and working inside and alone. Work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).
