Job summary

City of Sunrise is seeking a Code Compliance Officer to enforce city codes, investigate violations, and educate residents and business owners on compliance expectations. You will perform field inspections, prepare Notices of Violation, and testify at hearings as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong customer service skills, and proficiency in Word/Excel. A valid Florida driver’s license is required, and experience in code enforcement is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in Code Compliance and/or investigative work required.
• Computer literacy with a computerized system; Word proficiency; Excel preferred.
• Must possess valid Florida driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proficiency assessment in Word required.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and performs proactive field investigations for code violations.
• Conducts field inspections per City codes and ordinances.
• Educates residents and business owners on compliance procedures.
• Testifies at Code Enforcement Special Magistrate hearings.
• Interacts with city staff and public to resolve issues.
