Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning, public administration, criminal justice, construction management, environmental studies, or related field.
• Two years of code enforcement, zoning administration, building inspection, land use regulations, or related regulatory field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Code enforcement certification from ICC/ACEA/ACEA required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements policies to improve the town's code compliance program.
• Administers the code compliance program including intake/triage, case tracking, enforcement actions, and coordination with internal/external agencies.
• Enforces codes through education, voluntary compliance, civil enforcement, and legal remedies.
• Conducts field inspections and documents conditions; issues notices and maintains case files through resolution; presents testimony in hearings/court.
• Researches property records, ownership, permits, and land use history; performs field checks for rezoning conditions and permits.
• Responds to public inquiries and provides information on applicable codes and processes.
