Job description

Position: Cocktail Server

Location: The Joule, Dallas, TX

Overview: The Cocktail Server is expected to provide timely, courteous service with guest satisfaction as the primary goal. They are responsible for promoting specials and upselling.

Responsibilities:

1. Complete opening/closing checklist according to standards.
2. Welcome guests, take their drink orders, relay orders to bartender, process orders, deliver to guests, and receive payment.
3. Have knowledge of garnishes for each drink.
4. Process credit card and room charges.
5. Clear and clean tables when guests leave, return glasses to be washed.
6. Keep lounge area clean and free from debris at all times.
7. Follow all cash handling policies, and prepare closing report for night audit.
8. Perform all side work duties as scheduled.
9. Have full knowledge of state liquor laws.
10. Be familiar with the computer system.
11. Help the bartender prepare drinks when needed.
12. Assist bartender with hors d’oeuvres tables for cocktail hour in setup and breakdown.
13. Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
2. Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local laws.
3. Flexible with long hours sometimes required.
4. Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds frequently.
5. Ability to stand during entire shift.
6. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
7. Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests.
8. Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
9. Effective problem-solving skills, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
