Built in the 1920s, the neo-Gothic landmark building at 1530 Main Street was originally the Dallas National Bank. It was a prominent feature of the downtown skyline during Dallas's banking and oil booms. After a period of decline, the building was transformed into The Joule, a Forbes four-star boutique hotel, opening in 2008. Through renovations and expansions, The Joule has become a cultural, shopping, and dining destination, contributing to downtown Dallas's renaissance.

Overview

The Cocktail Server is responsible for providing timely, courteous service with guest satisfaction as the primary goal. They will promote specials and up-selling opportunities.

Responsibilities

1. Complete opening/closing checklist according to standards.
2. Welcome guests, take drink orders, relay orders to the bartender, process orders, deliver to guests, and receive payment.
3. Know garnishes for each drink.
4. Process credit card and room charges.
5. Clear and clean tables when guests leave; return glasses for washing.
6. Keep lounge area clean and debris-free at all times.
7. Follow cash handling policies and prepare closing reports for night audit.
8. Perform side work duties as scheduled.
9. Have full knowledge of state liquor laws.
10. Be familiar with the computer system.
11. Assist bartender in preparing drinks when needed.
12. Help set up and break down hors d’oeuvres tables for cocktail hour.
13. Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
2. Must be of legal age to serve alcohol according to local laws.
3. Flexible schedule; long hours sometimes required.
4. Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.
5. Ability to stand during entire shift.
6. Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests.
7. Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
8. Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented attitude.
9. Effective problem-solving skills, including anticipating and preventing issues.
