Job summary

Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma or GED; or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent.
• Language: ability to read and interpret safety rules, operate and maintain instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Math: ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry.
• Reasoning: excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills; solve practical problems with concrete variables.
• Computer: knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software.
• Schedule: able to work flexible shifts, including early/late shifts, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests
• Present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
• Take orders from patrons for food or beverages
• Check patrons' identification to meet minimum age requirements for alcohol
• Write orders on slips or enter into computers for kitchen transmission
• Open and close the restaurant
• Stock bar with beverages and supplies
• Take beverage orders from serving staff or patrons
• Check IDs for alcohol purchases
• Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks
• Collect payment for drinks served
• Limit problems and liability from overindulgence by advising or arranging transportation
• Balance cash receipts and perform related paperwork
• Clean bars, work areas, tables, glasses, and bar equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Education

High school diploma or GED; or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
