Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated COBOL Software Developer to join its IT Division in Lansing, Michigan. The role offers a merit-based work-from-home program after initial in-person training, with the possibility to work remotely up to three days per week.

Ideal candidates have a math/actuarial/economics or related logic-based background and can learn software development. Training is provided; in-person work at Lansing office is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, IS, IT, MIS, Math, Actuarial Science, Economics, or similar field, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of COBOL, DB2, TSO, SQL is a plus.
• Exposure to languages such as R, SAS, Python, MATLAB, C, C++, Java.
• Strong grades in related studies and interest in software development.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software programs and applications.
• Participate in code/design reviews and brainstorming sessions.
• Develop program and system documentation.
• Analyze and fix software errors promptly and accurately.
• Collaborate with users, architects, project leaders, and management to resolve problems.
