Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is hiring a Software Developer (COBOL) to support the NYS Medicaid Management Information System. You will code, test, and document complex mainframe applications with COBOL, CICS and DB2, while staying aligned with eMedNY program standards.

The role emphasizes analytical mindset, attention to detail, and collaboration within a team, delivering reliable software for government projects from Albany, NY.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related discipline.
• 2+ years of IT experience.
• 2+ years of COBOL, CICS and DB2 experience.
• Knowledge of SQL, mainframe technologies and open systems interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform analysis, design, development, testing, documentation, maintenance and support of complex applications and processes.
• Meet eMedNY Program standards for specification development, coding, code review, testing and related documentation.
• Create documentation artifacts for the SDLC review and approval.
• Assist in effort and duration estimates for systemic enhancements.
• Assist in production and other support activities and resolve issues.
• Stay current with industry trends and standards.
• Keep abreast of competitor products and industry changes.
