Job summary

InterSources Inc. seeks an experienced IT professional to analyze the Phoenix core business system, lead technical analysis, and translate business requirements into technical specifications. You will drive development and testing of changes in a Windows client-server environment.

You will mentor developers, coordinate with business units, and provide ongoing production support, with weekly status updates to management. This contract role spans 12 months with hybrid onsite/remote work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience with Visual and/or Micro Focus COBOL.
• 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based Client-Server environment.
• 5+ years of experience leading a technical software development team.
• 10+ years of experience coding and testing complex COBOL-based business systems using Oracle SQL in a Windows Client-Server environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze the Phoenix core business system and assigned development or system modification tickets.
• Lead analysis and recommend technical solutions for assigned tickets and projects.
• Partner directly with business units to develop business requirements and specifications.
• Translate business specifications into technical specifications and obtain business approval.
• Code, test, promote, and implement application changes.
• Work with impacted users to verify delivered functionality against documented requirements.
• Provide production support for the Phoenix system.
• Lead and mentor technical development resources.
• Provide daily and weekly status updates to the development manager and business analysts.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of experience with Visual and/or Micro Focus COBOL.
• Working knowledge of Visual COBOL V9.
• 10+ years of experience developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based Client-Server environment.
• 5+ years of experience leading a technical software development team in planning and deployment of software systems.
• 10+ years of experience coding and testing complex COBOL-based business systems using Oracle SQL in a Windows Client-Server environment.
• 5+ years of experience providing Level 3 (L3) production support.
• 5+ years of experience functioning as the primary contact with business units to develop and review business and technical specifications and ensure delivery of required functionality.
• 10+ years of experience with system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation techniques for developing new systems or modifying existing systems.

Preferred Skills

• Oracle 19+ SQL.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio / .NET / C# development environment.
• Experience working in a government environment.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
• Visual COBOL technical certifications.
