Job summary

Crisil in Plano, TX seeks a Senior Mainframe COBOL Developer to support critical payment applications and drive design and development with modern engineering practices, including Agile delivery.

You will work with SMEs, maintain mainframe systems using COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, and contribute to AI-assisted development initiatives, while pursuing performance improvements and governance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Mainframe application development.
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL and IMS.
• Strong experience in: JCL, CICS, IMS DB / IMS DC.
• Familiarity with batch and online transaction processing systems.
• Working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with JIRA for workflow and tracking.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of Agentic AI / AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience in banking and payments domain (good to have).
• Knowledge of SWIFT, ACH, ISO 20022 or card payment processing (good to have).
• Experience with DB2 and VSAM (good to have).
• Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD practices in mainframe environment (good to have).
• Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools (good to have).
