Job summary

Cobb-Vantress, LLC is seeking a Brooder House Worker for Cobb Three Springs Farm. The role runs Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and holidays; hours are 5:50am to 1:50pm with variations by production needs.

Starting pay is $17.00 per hour plus shift differentials for evenings, nights and weekends, with benefits available from day one for full-time hires. Responsibilities include feeding, watering, monitoring birds, maintaining housing conditions, recording data, and performing

• Walks floors daily; examines birds for signs of illness; disposes mortality and loads into incinerator.
• Places pen partitions according to calculations; segregates birds by line and age of source.
• Cleans and disinfects waterers and pens; performs routine housekeeping; repairs pens and equipment.
• Records information such as line, MG, bird weight, medications, feed and water intake, and mortality.
• Other duties may be assigned, such as inspecting birds weekly, sanitizing breakroom and equipment, and euthanizing weak/ill birds per policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Feeds and waters birds according to schedules. Monitors temperature, lights and adjusts as instructed. (30%)
• Walks floors daily; examines birds for signs of illness and treats according to instructions; picks up and disposes of mortality, loads mortality into incinerator. (20%)
• Places pen partitions according to calculations; segregates birds according to line and age of source (20%)
• Cleans and disinfects waterers and pens and performs routine housekeeping duties; repairs pens and equipment (feeders, waterers, lights, fans, etc.) (10%)
• Records information according to instructions such as line, MG, bird weight, medications, feed & water intake, and mortality (10%)
• Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: inspects birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitizes breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles; properly euthanizes selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare/Safety Requirements

The jobsite is a bio secure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly team lift up to 35 pounds to move items such as partitions, boxes of chicks, etc. Tools, such as shovel/pitchfork may be required to move feed or shavings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on multiple floor surfaces (i.e. concrete floor, shavings); walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 500 times per day; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold environments.

Personal Protective Equipment Required

Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and company issued footwear are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed. Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, pesticides, etc.

Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
