Job summary

Kanaan Communications, LLC is hiring a Coax Splicer II to perform coax splicing for telecommunications networks in a field environment.

You will splice coax cables, test installations, troubleshoot equipment, and document work while adhering to safety standards and DOT requirements. This role involves climbing poles and working at various heights in aerial and underground settings.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of coax splicing experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • DOT medical exam and card required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform coax splicing and upgrades for aerial and underground networks.
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot post-installation equipment.
  • Follow safety and industry standards during splicing.
  • Work at various heights and navigate poles/underground work sites
  • Maintain daily production reports and material usage records.

What you’ll do
  • Perform tasks associated with electronic upgrades and splicing of coaxial cable, both aerial and underground
  • Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment post-installation
  • Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
  • Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
  • Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
  • Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
  • Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
  • At least two years of coax splicing experience
Additional qualifications
  • Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
  • Knowledge of telecommunications network structure
Physical abilities & exposures
  • Routinely: work at heights & in confined spaces, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, work alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds, use keyboard and mouse
  • Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles
