Job summary

Industrial Plating Company, Inc. on site in Chattanooga, TN, is seeking a Mechanical Surface Restoration Technician to learn and perform preparation, application, and finishing of industrial coatings across diverse components.

You’ll be cross-trained on machining, grinding, dynamic balancing, chrome plating, thermal spray technologies, and more. You will interpret drawings, verify critical characteristics with precision tools, and document results while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical certificate or degree a plus.
• Lean/5S experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to plan and execute jobs correctly.
• Verify thickness, dimensional features, TIR, and surface roughness using precision tools.
• Mask components to protect features during coating.
• Keep a tidy, well-organized work area and participate in safety training.
• Operate forklifts, hoists, and related equipment safely.
• Run machine tools, sandblasting, coating, finishing equipment.
• Perform basic operator-level maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Document work performed using software/spreadsheets.
