Job summary

Cooper Machinery Services is seeking a Plating Technician I to operate tanks, rectifiers, and racks for precision chrome finish on cylinders used worldwide. The role involves following ICP SOPs, recording data, and coordinating with the VaporHone team to keep production flowing.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma and 0–1 years' related experience, plus comfort with forklifts, cranes, and basic hand tools. Training provided on-site at the Houston shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; 0–1 years in related work; training provided.
• Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Hands-on maintenance or technician experience.
• Able to operate forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts and hand tools.
• Read technical specs and QA documentation when needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and plate scheduled cylinders — cleaned, vapor-honed, and defect-free.
• Follow ICP SOPs for plating processes, rectifiers, racks, anodes, and robber rings.
• Match racks, anodes, and cylinders to ICP guidelines for proper plating or stripping.
• Record plating data — time, rate, amperage — and complete work tickets.
• Read meters and temperature gauges, adjusting to keep processes on spec.
• Coordinate with VaporHone team to communicate plating needs and move cylinders.
• Spot capacity constraints and adjust workload to maintain flow.
• Load and maintain tanks at optimal capacity for continuous production.
• Add chromic flake as per lab analysis and monitor tank levels.
