Job summary

Momentive is offering a Summer 2027 Intern-Coatings R&D internship in New York. You will work with a senior chemist to support development of new chemistries and products used as coating ingredients to enhance performance attributes.

You will evaluate and design new chemistries, formulate coatings, and conduct testing to ensure properties meet target requirements, with documentation and presentations to the technology team.

Qualifications

• Competent in conducting experiments in a chemical lab setup and using basic analytical instruments.
• Prior experience or knowledge of Coating technologies preferred but not a requirement.
• Ability to learn and execute quickly, collaboration and teamwork, problem solving and analytical mindset.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation and design of new chemistries for use as coating additives or resins.
• Coating formulation and testing to ensure performance properties meet requirements for target applications.
• Fundamental studies to understand structure-property relationship using different analytical techniques.
• Documentation of all studies and presentation to technology team and leaders.
