Job summary

Mersen is seeking a Coatings Process Operator in Bay City, MI, to operate High Temperature Vacuum CVD Reactors and support the Quality System.

You will follow safety practices, prepare reactors and products, handle hazardous chemicals with PPE, monitor parameters, and participate in process improvement projects as part of a collaborative team. The role requires a HS diploma with chemistry manufacturing experience and knowledge of SPC, and involves lifting and climbing as part of daily duties.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma with 2-5 years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Chemical Process Tech Degree or Certification would be accepted in place of Experience.
  • Knowledge and Experience handling hazardous chemicals.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control.
  • Good verbal communication and written skills.
  • Team Spirit.

  • Work as team to – Prepare Reactors (Clean, Load/Unload, Troubleshoot, and Develop Fixtures). Prepare Product (Clean, Hone, Visual Inspection, etc.).
  • Work with hazardous chemicals – Using appropriate PPE.
  • Monitor Processes, record process parameters, note issues and define corrective measures when necessary.
  • Work with Team to define and develop operating parameters based on product type and configuration.
  • Work with improvement projects – Process, Quality, Safety.
  • Housekeeping
  • Operate Lift Truck
  • Perform general maintenance on equipment (Minor Electrical, Computer Interface, Mechanical).

Main duties

Coatings Process Operator

Reports to Technical Supervisor


Fully participate in and support the Mersen Quality System.


General Description:

The Technical Operator will be responsible for the proper operation of High Temperature Vacuum CVD Reactors.


Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Follow Established Safety Practices.

  • Assist with developing, new and comprehensive operating instructions as well as the safe practices

  • Work as team to – Prepare Reactors (Clean, Load/Unload, Troubleshoot, and Develop Fixtures). Prepare Product (Clean, Hone, Visual Inspection, etc.).

  • Work with hazardous chemicals – Using appropriate PPE

  • Monitor Processes, record process parameters, note issues and define corrective measures when necessary.
