Coatings Process Operator

Reports to Technical Supervisor.

Fully participate in and support the Mersen Quality System.

General Description

The Technical Operator will be responsible for the proper operation of High Temperature Vacuum CVD Reactors.

Exemplary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Follow Established Safety Practices.
• Assist with developing new and comprehensive operating instructions as well as safe practices.
• Work as a team to prepare Reactors (clean, load/unload, troubleshoot, and develop fixtures). Prepare Product (clean, hone, visual inspection, etc.).
• Work with hazardous chemicals using appropriate PPE.
• Monitor processes, record process parameters, note issues, and define corrective measures when necessary.
• Work with the team to define and develop operating parameters based on product type and configuration.
• Work with improvement projects – Process, Quality, Safety.
• Conduct housekeeping.
• Operate lift truck.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment (minor electrical, computer interface, mechanical).
• Data acquisition/data entry.

Minimum Qualifications

• HS Diploma with 2-5 years experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Chemical Process Tech Degree or Certification accepted in place of experience.
• Knowledge and experience handling hazardous chemicals.
• Knowledge of problem solving techniques.
• Good verbal communication and written skills.
• Team spirit.
• Knowledge of statistical process control.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Ability to lift above head, bend, climb (stairs/ladders).
• Good computer skills (spreadsheets, word processing, etc.).
