Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector II to lead coating and lining inspections on industrial, water, and infrastructure projects with sign-off authority at hold points. You will plan hold points from the coating spec and manufacturer data, verify prep, application, and cure, and perform adhesion and holiday testing.

You will sign off on each hold point and document nonconformances as needed.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 2 certification current with 2+ years inspecting under it
• SSPC/NACE surface prep standards and common industrial coating systems
• Experience on tank, pipeline, water/wastewater, or structural steel coating projects
• Ability to stop an application out of specification and document it so it closes

Responsibilities

• Plan inspection hold points and testing from the coating specification and manufacturer's data
• Verify surface preparation, application, and cure with sign-off authority at each hold point
• Perform adhesion, holiday, and cure testing
• Disposition defects and specify repairs
• Supervise Level 1 inspectors on larger projects and review their logs
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports
• Represent the inspection program to the owner and applicator
