Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under senior supervision. You will verify surface prep, measure ambient conditions, assess film thickness, and document the coating process on tanks, structures, pipes, and concrete.

Applicants should hold AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, have 1+ year in industrial coatings inspection, and be meticulous with instruments and records while working around blasting operations.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification current required.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point).
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness; check holidays/defects.
