Job summary

Construction Material Testing is looking for a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspections under a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector, documenting coating progress on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete in accordance with SSPC/NACE standards.

Your responsibilities include recording ambient conditions, validating surface prep, measuring film thickness, and maintaining inspection logs with photos to ensure traceability of each batch sprayed.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification, current.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working in tanks, on structures, and around blasting and spray operations.
• Meticulous with instruments and records.
• Honest about what the gauge reads.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standards.
• Measure wet and dry film thickness; check holidays and defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage of work.
