Job summary

Oerlikon Group is seeking a Technician for our Elgin facility to set up, operate, and monitor coating equipment that processes customer products. You will prepare coating chambers, load/unload items, enter process parameters, and ensure processes meet specifications with careful attention to safety and quality.

You will join a team that values accuracy, proactive problem solving, and collaboration. The role requires physical stamina, willingness to work overtime, and the ability to follow

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for 9+ hours.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and data entry.

We are looking for a Technician Ifor our Elgin facility. In this role you will set up, operate, and monitorcoating equipment used to process a variety of customer products. This position prepares and configures coating chambers, loads and unloads products, enters process parameters, performs required pre-treatment activities, and monitors the coating process to ensure customer specifications are met. The role requires attention to detail, analytical thinking, and sound decision-making to safely and efficiently manage each coating cycle from setup through completion.

Your Responsibilities:

• Performs production operations to support the manufacturing process.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors.
• Must be able to work as part of a team.
• Must conform to current health, environmental, and safety standards.
• Must be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions and ask questions if necessary to prevent misunderstanding.

Your Profile:

• High School graduate or GED or equivalent experience.
• Able to do prolong standing 9+ hours or more.
• The employee frequently is required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Good dexterity, attention to fine details, and depth perception to enable detail hand coordination.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand eye coordination and the ability to adjust focus.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills to include basic understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheets and Access database to complete end of day reports.
• A positive attitude and willingness to work overtime when required.
• Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

For individuals assigned, hired to work or working remotely in/out of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada, Washington State, Massachusetts, or New York, Oerlikon is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position, which is $20 to $24 per hour. Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law,) medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
